What We Do
All the different ways CARES aids patients and their loved ones.
The nationally recognized CARES Child and Family Program offers free child care, educational activities, parent education, and referrals for children and families.
CARES does this through a variety of different programs including a childcare program, a holiday gift drive, food distributions, reading programs, and much more! CARES also supports the community by providing work study/training programs to allow adults and teens to have the opportunity to explore career interests and pursue academic goals. CARES provides work site training to high school and college students, Cal-Works participants, City and County Summer Youth and After School Employment Programs, and the Senior Employment Training Program.
A key focus of CARES is the Child and Family Program that operates two Child Care Centers.
A key focus of CARES is the Child and Family Program that operates two Child Care Centers. Thousands of people from the community enter the hospital each day either to receive treatment or to visit family members who are acutely ill. The CARES Child and Family Program is a vital and necessary resource to these people. Due to lack of financial and child care resources, many patients and visitors bring their children with them.
CARES welcomes new volunteers; however, due to the nature of the medical environment, the following are necessary.
CARES accepts donations and volunteers to help with our mission. All donations are tax deductible.
For the many ways that the community may contribute funds or in-kind donations, contact the CARES Office at (323) 409-6941.
