Childcare Services
The nationally recognized CARES Child and Family Program offers free child care services, educational activities, parent education, and referrals for children and families at the Los Angeles General Medical Center.
CARES Child Care Centers offer a broad range of services free of charge for patients’ families at the Los Angeles General Medical Center. A literature-based curriculum includes math, science, art, language and plenty of play. Nutritional needs of the children are addressed by providing them with healthy meals and snacks. The Child Care Center staff offers parents education and psychological support to the children and their families in a culturally sensitive environment. Children may be referred for vision, speech, hearing, and immunization services when necessary. Many of the very needy families receive holiday gifts, school supplies, food, and clothing. Many children are served annually.
CARES also offers child care services for Medical Center employees’ children. Employees’ children are accepted on a temporary or continual basis. State subsidized child care is available if the employee qualifies and space is available.
By supporting the CARES Child & Family program, donors help provide the resources needed to create a safe, nurturing, and educational environment for young children. Whether it’s donating toys, purchasing new educational materials, or improving playgrounds, donations make a tangible difference in the lives of both children and their caregivers.
For the many ways that the community may contribute funds or in-kind donations, contact the CARES Office at (323) 409-6941.
